Privacy Policy

Effective Date: Wednesday, July 9, 2025

Welcome to BusinessResearchJournal.com, a website proudly designed, used, written on, overthought, and probably over-secured by me and only me. This Privacy Policy explains how I collect, use, and protect data from the only person who uses this site: also me.

🤓 Who We Are

We are me.
I am we.
This is a one-human operation.
There is no team. There is no marketing department.
It’s just one guy researching his way to a doctoral degree while hoarding ideas in a beautiful glass jar made of PHP and MySQL.

📊 What Information I Collect

As the sole user of this site, I collect information about myself — primarily to help my future self wonder what on earth I was thinking.

I may collect:

  • IP addresses (mine)
  • Login activity (mine)
  • Page visits (also mine)
  • Search history (if I ever figure out how to enable search)
  • Occasional existential questions typed into the post editor and never published

All of this information is stored in databases I built myself and secured with an unreasonable amount of encryption, paranoia, and duct tape.

🚷 Who I Share Data With

No one.
Seriously.
Not even future me unless I remember the admin password.

Unless I get hacked, audited by the ghost of Alan Turing, or abducted by aliens looking for qualitative data, your — I mean my — data is safe.

🔐 Security

This website is locked down tighter than a bunker full of research grants.
It uses:

  • Encrypted SSH access
  • Two-factor authentication (when I remember to turn it on)
  • Self-hosted backups (because the cloud is just someone else’s computer)

No one but me can log in.
And sometimes not even me, if I typo my password too many times.

📴 Offline-First Design

This site was intentionally built to be used offline, locally, by me. It’s like a digital diary, but with source citations and less crying.

When the website is online, it’s because I needed to:

  • Back it up
  • Test something
  • Or show off to the admissions committee

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Provisions for Future Guests (When Online)

Should the unlikely day come where this site becomes public-facing and allows visitors:

  • I will probably panic and immediately set up a new user role called “Snoop”
  • Visitors will have no edit access, but may browse read-only pages like “Dissertation Panic Logs 2030”
  • All guest activity will be logged and judged silently by a plugin I haven’t written yet

🍪 Cookies

If any cookies are stored, they are for:

  • WordPress session tracking
  • Me forgetting I logged in three hours ago
  • Telling myself I’ll start using private browsing “next time”

👁️ Data Access Requests

If you would like to know what data I’ve collected about you (again, it’s just me), please:

  1. Email myself
  2. Wait for myself to reply
  3. Get distracted and forget

🧾 Changes to This Policy

If I ever become wildly famous or allow other humans to use this site, I’ll rewrite this to include actual lawyers and maybe a GDPR section.

Until then, this Privacy Policy stands as a monument to solitude, self-reflection, and self-surveillance.
